Nice climbing area.
The wall we climbed had small grips and slabs.

Landelies offers a combination of rock climbing and via ferrata, making it a diverse destination for climbers. The site is an old quarry with a sunny, south-facing rock face, and it's located along the Sambre River near Charleroi.
Rock Climbing at Landelies
* Rock Type and Style: The rock is compact limestone. The climbing style is primarily focused on slabs and vertical walls, with a higher number of technical slab routes. You can expect to find crimps and small cracks as holds.
* Number of Routes: There are around 60-70 routes on crags up to 35 meters in height. This makes it a great spot for both single-pitch sport climbing and training.
* Difficulty: The routes range from French grades 3c to 7b, making it accessible for a wide range of skill levels. The area is particularly well-regarded for its routes in the 5c to 6c range, which are good for intermediate climbers.
* Access: As with most natural climbing areas in Belgium, access is restricted. You must be a member of one of the Belgian climbing federations, such as the KBF or CAB, to climb here.
Via Ferrata at Landelies
The via ferrata at Landelies is known for being one of the most challenging and varied in Belgium, making it a popular choice for those with some experience.
* Difficulty: The route is rated D (difficile) on the French scale. It's a sustained and athletic course that requires good physical condition and upper body strength. It is not recommended for absolute beginners.
* Route Features: The route is approximately 240 meters long and includes:
* Technical vertical sections and narrow, tight passages.
* Exposed traverses that require a good head for heights.
* An optional tyrolienne (zipline) over a wooded valley.
* A possible rappel at the end of the route.
* Access: As with the climbing routes, access to the via ferrata is typically restricted to members of a climbing federation. It's recommended to have your own via ferrata equipment (harness, lanyard, helmet) or go with a certified guide who can provide it.

This via ferrata is fun!
The approach is at the end of a foottrail and it has a sign. Climbing experience will serve you on this route, especially if you are a bit small like me (163cm). I felt lucky to know how to move on the rock
